Rtl today – update in Luxembourg: five deaths and 409 contaminations in the last four days
The number of infections and hospitalizations for new cases of coronavirus is on the rise in Luxembourg.
The Ministry of Health published on Tuesday a new assessment of the health situation in Luxembourg. During this long weekend, and including the figures just published on Friday, 409 coronavirus contaminations were discovered (217 Friday, 163 Saturday, 18 Sunday and 11 Monday). Above all, five new deaths have been recorded.
The overall trend is to increased infections: in one month, the incidence rate fell from 81 to 138 (this last number being lower than the reality because the bank holiday of Monday lowered the number of tests and cases detected).
Since the appearance of the virus, more than 82,000 people have been infected in Luxembourg, of which just over 2,000 are still living with an “active infection”. This leaves more than 79,200 people “cured”.
In the hospital, the number of patients received is on the rise but remains low compared to previous infectious peaks. This Monday, 38 people were admitted to hospital, including 12 in intensive care. Luxembourg also welcomes a patient from Belgium.
On the vaccination side, 422,990 people have a complete vaccination schedule, or about 66.64% of the total population.
