Job fair career forum Salzburg again full of success
Companies and job seekers are very satisfied. Lectures on the subject of careers and personal development as well as online offers round off the job fair.
The 15th Salzburg Career Forum will take place again today at the Salzburg Congress. Nonetheless, added value was also created for visitors who did not have time to visit that day: They could watch the lectures in the livestream via the website www.karriereforum.eu/karriereforum-salzburg watch from home and get in touch with the exhibitors. All content as well as the video workshops on the topics of application, women’s coaching and careers are still available on this website for those interested.
Despite the many advantages that the online format brings with it, many exhibitors and visitors were happy that this year’s career forum, organized by the “Salzburger Nachrichten”, was able to take place with presence again. “It makes a difference whether you can talk to one another in person or whether everyone is sitting in front of the computer in isolation,” says Claudia Auer, who is jointly responsible for recruiting and personnel development at the Salzburg Raiffeisen Association. “It gives us a better feeling for our potential applicants and the applicants can get to know us better.” The Raiffeisen Association’s stand was well received. During the conversation, the visitors are particularly interested in the different job profiles of the association and in the apprenticeships that are offered. Schoolchildren and students in particular want to know how to get started and how to apply.
“A good platform to present our company holistically”
The other exhibitors are also very busy all day. “The career forum is a classic fair,” says Carina Sams, Recruiting & Employer Branding Specialist at Hervis. “It is a good platform to present our company holistically.” So far, the stand has been well received. Teachers, students and those willing to change would have found out where to apply and what opportunities there are for advancement. She thinks it is particularly good that the brand is seen by an audience that normally does not belong to Hervis’ customers. “Here, interested parties can see which jobs and which employers are behind the products. That is an aspect that you normally do not perceive as a customer.” Around 40 exhibitors from the fields of business and education presented themselves to the visitors. They all woo the students, graduates and career starters and career changers who are present. Andi Miskovic is one of the career changers. The early 30-year-old visits the career forum because he wants to reorient himself after working as a chef for 13 years. “I’ve lost the joy of cooking,” says Miskovic. He would now like to develop himself further in a new profession, preferably in accounting or in a business area. That is why he has already obtained information from the Wüstenrot and Salzburg AG stands. The two students Maria Ascione and Lucia Orkic are at the beginning of their professional careers. The two 16-year-olds have no specific career aspirations, but want to work in the media sector and use the job fair to find out about internships. They feel very well informed by the exhibitors. “Everyone takes good care of us, we have learned a lot so far,” say the two students.
Lectures on the subject of personality, happiness and success provide input for your own future
At the same time as the job fair, lectures on the subject of careers and personal development will take place on the main stage in the Karajan Hall. “Don’t necessarily do what your best friend does, find out more,” advises Governor Wilfried Haslauer in the opening speech at the beginning of the career forum. “We are looking for employees in all areas.” Bernd Ellmauer, head of karriere.SN, “Salzburger Nachrichten”, urges the students to use the day and discover the employers. “The presence and the personal are decisive factors.”
In his talk “Never give up and achieve your goals”, Nico Langmann also made it clear that personality is important in life. The 24-year-old wheelchair user, who suffered paraplegia as a two-year-old in a car accident, encouraged the young audience to overcome problems in life and to go their own way against them. “Just because something doesn’t yet exist doesn’t mean that you can’t do something with a lot of enthusiasm,” said Langmann, who is known as a successful tennis player and Paralympic participant. In the follow-up lecture, communication strategist Iris Zeppezauer gave tips on how to behave confidently in ongoing conversations. “Sell your work, do not go in as a supplicant.” There are unfair situations in which one should never slip into the role of the justifier. “Take a deep breath first,” she advises the audience. If you think you have to answer immediately, you usually have too little time to think. This often leads to evasive pressure.
Videos available online
You can still find out more now:
Those who could not take part in the career forum in the Kongresshaus still have the opportunity to find out more in the video interviews with the companies in the exhibitor profiles. All lectures and online workshops will also continue to be offered “on demand” on the website. Sports mental coach Julia Buchner reports, for example, on being confident in job interviews.
