Carl-Erik Torp on the Emil Pálsson incident: –
On Monday night, Sogndal player Emil Pálsson fell early in the match against Stjørdals-Blink. Shortly afterwards, it was confirmed that the Icelander had had a cardiac arrest at Fosshaugane Campus.
The match was stopped immediately, and the medical apparatus at the stadium was successful in reviving the 28-year-old.
The situation occurs a little over ten years after the then Brann player Carl-Erik Torp had a cardiac arrest during a settlement on Fosshaugane Campus against Sogndal.
Eriksen-vibbe
The 37-year-old says that he noticed the coincidence first after the shock had subsided.
– It was only after it dawned on me, and then I thought «oi shit!». It takes me a little back, it does. At first glance, I did not think much about it, but it is a dramatic event we do not happen so often, says Torp to Dagbladet.
– I first realized that Pálsson had fallen over, and then messages and telephone calls began to flow. This became a little special, it’s been years since it happened to me.
He says that he experienced something of the same this summer when Denmark star Christian Eriksen fell over in the European Championship match between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen.
– I did not see the match myself, I had the phone on charge and was with no one. It was a bit the same vibe that I got with Eriksen this summer, says Torp.
The thoughts go tonight to Emil Pálsson ❤ The football family is with you!

– It’s like that you get an “obs obs” message from a good friend that something had happened in Sogndal. Then there are quickly ten missed calls, and a lot of SMS. It’s not often like that when I’m away from the phone for a 20 minute time, so I figured it was something.
The popular NRK profile says that he probably knows it a little extra when situations like his, Eriksen’s and Pálsson’s happen on the football field.
– It’s getting very close, of course. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s enough for everyone. But I know it a little on the body and how I react. It triggers something physical in me, but I think I have the same thought as the rest, says Torp.
Stable
On Tuesday, the news came that Pálsson’s condition was stable, and that he will in the near future be examined and treated at Haukeland University Hospital.
– It is fantastic that it seems like it has gone well, and that he has been as lucky as he has been. I’m just grateful that he got the immediate and fantastic, it probably saved his life, says Torp.
– It’s good that there were such nice people present, it was also for me. That was crucial. We were both in the right place, it happened to me there ten years ago.
After the incident, Torp had a defibrillator inserted, and shortly after he had to put his football shoes on the shelf. He does not want to speculate on what time will bring for the Sogndal player.
– The traumatic experiences, also for those around, are strong. For my own part, the next difficult period was to accept such a life change. I put in derlig he releases it and that one can fix this. But I do not know enough about that, but I cross all fingers, says Torp.
– That he survives and that everything is fine is number one, and it is fine if he can play again. For my part, my situation had a dramatic consequence.
To Sogn Avis told event manager in Sogndal, Geir Inge Heggestad, that they used experiences from the Torp situation when Pálsson’s life was at stake. It provokes a reaction in the NRK profile.
– It feels very special when they say they used his handling of me in how they treated him. I’m just extremely happy that it seems to have gone well. I know an extra gratitude for that.
