Marek Benda – ČT24 – Czech Television became the new chairman of the Prague ODS
“After the phenomenal election result of the TOTAL coalition in the parliamentary elections in Prague, I consider it almost a duty to build on this success. It has clearly become clear that the Prague result is not just the sum of the preferences of the individual coalition parties, but that it brings something extra in the form of willingness across companies, including younger voters, to go and vote for a decent and united right, “said Benda.
According to the new chairman of the Prague organization, the party must focus on the elections to the capital council, which will take place next year. “The next elections to the local council must be a similar referendum (as elections to the Chamber of Deputies) on the completely chaotic and activist rule of the Pirates and Prague themselves,” he said. Prague is ruled by Pirates, Prague by itself and the United Forces for Prague (TOP 09 and STAN). The YES movement is still in opposition with the ODS.
Benda, but also Portlík, wants the position of the Prague cell within the national ODS. “I am convinced that Prague should have its deputy chairman in the ODS leadership. It is already more or less clear that our influence on national politics will increase in proportion to our result, “said Benda.
The Assembly elected and also elected the party’s vice-presidents in the capital. The first vice-president is Vojtěch Kos and the ordinary vice-presidents are Lucie Prinzová, the mayor of Prague 13 David Vodrážka, the Prague representative Tomáš Kaštovský and Jan Poupě.
Benda has been involved in politics all her adult life
Basically, Benda has been involved in top politics all her adult life and is one of the longest-serving lawmakers since the Velvet Revolution. Already in February 1990 he was co-opted to the Czech National Council (since 1993 as the Chamber of Deputies). He held a number of important positions in the Chamber. He was re-elected to the lower house in the October elections. Benda has so far led the Civic Democrats in Prague 4.
Portlík was chairman of the party in the capital for two terms. He was elected for the second time in the first half of November 2019. This year he became mayor of Prague 9, until then he was deputy mayor there. In 2017, Portlík replaced the then head of the Prague ODS and the former deputy mayor of Prague 10, Filip Humplík.
