Visit the Laeken cemetery in a different way with children
There is also something for children to do at the Laeken cemetery. The City of Brussels has mapped out a route to discover the graves of celebrities.
There are two routes: one for 6-8 year olds and the other for 9-12 year olds. They are invited to follow the mascot Ernest. For example, children can discover monsters hidden in stone, visit the graves of celebrities, or delve into the deepest galleries in search of activities.
The route is based on the information brochures that you can request from the adults of the cemetery. The digital version can be downloaded on the adult’s smartphone. Papers are also available. The Laeken and Brussels cemeteries each have an electric car to allow people with reduced mobility to discover the cemetery.
The routes are part of a broader plan of the City of Brussels to highlight the ‘Brussels père Lachaise’ more. At the request of Aldermen of Civil Registry Ahmed El Ktibi (PS), other activities also take place, such as an audio guide and sometimes concerts and films.
