The “Tatort” from Frankfurt offers numerous impressions from the city in which it was filmed. The FR answers questions about the film.
A young woman is murdered. She had written a book shortly before. Apparently there are parallels between the story and real events in her life. In this respect, the case could be clarified with the help of the book. But did Luise Nathan even write the celebrated work herself?
How convincing the plot of the “crime scene” with the title “Luna eats or dies” is was already discussed intensely on social media during the broadcast on yesterday, Sunday evening. On the other hand, one thing is undisputed: Hardly any crime production by Hessischer Rundfunk has had as many impressions from Frankfurt as this film in recent years. As usual, the Frankfurter Rundschau answers the three most important questions about the “crime scene” from Frankfurt.
Where exactly was the “crime scene” filmed?
In many places in Frankfurt. Luise dies on the south bank of the Main – diagonally across from the European Central Bank. Your best friend, who is at times under suspect device, lives with her mother and sister in the green skyscraper on Rothschildallee, which is well known to most people in Frankfurt. The photos were also taken on the roof, which are likely to have caused panic in people with severe fear of heights. After all, the settings made it possible to see the skyline again – a motif that has lost its meaning since the time of the inspectors: inside Dellwo and singers in the “Tatort” from Frankfurt. The investigators also drive: Janneke and Brix sometimes through Oeder Weg, sometimes through Weißfrauenstrasse and also visit a greenhouse in the palm garden.
What role does Frankfurt city politics play?
Luise’s mother is Frankfurt’s social affairs officer. The viewers find out about this very early on. However, anyone who had hoped for a Roman thriller with disappointed Christian Democrats, internal party disputes between Volt and Greens in the field of tension between building permits and tree occupations, was disappointed. The political woman could have been a doctor or a lawyer very quickly, her communal work was of little importance for the plot. And with Elke Voitl (Greens), the real Frankfurt social affairs officer, Ms. Nathan senior has little in common.
Does the “Café Kelle” really exist?
No. The café, in which Luise’s girlfriend can often be found, is opened by the social affairs officer at the beginning of the film. But only in the film. In fact, there is no “Café Kelle” at Berger Straße 6, where the photos were taken. However, the building was properly prepared for the shooting. As the Hesischer Rundfunk reports, people regularly came to the “café” and wanted to be served.
