DANIELE CESARETTI. The year 1953 saw the definitive consecration in San Marino of the sketch artist Roberto Franzoni. The issue of the series of nine values called Fiori is striking for its beauty, leaves its mark on the world philatelic panorama and confirms the success of San Marino thematic stamps. The design of the rose in the value of 100 Lire earned Franzoni an international prize. Not surprisingly, as we will see, the flowers were a particularly congenial element to the Bolognese artist, who in creating this splendid series certainly the best of himself: each value sees in the foreground the representation of a different variety of flower, in the background you can see the profile of Mount Titano while on the right side the elegant coat of arms of the Republic stands out.
