Ukrainian athlete and People’s Deputy of Ukraine Olga Saladukha, who ended her career in the triple jump, spoke about the doping scandal:

“Everyone has a loud scandal over the published data of WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) on the manipulation of doping tests in Ukraine. Importantly, there was an immediate reaction from the National Anti-Doping Center – its head resigned. That is, if there really are problems, Ukraine will not hide them and disown them.

At the same time, some people today are trying to understand the media of the “mega-betrayal” and already leave a cross among Ukrainian athletes in all international competitions with the Olympics.

I think it is premature to draw such conclusions, because we do not have a final WADA report with final conclusions. But the Ukrainian sports community should not sit idly by either. A parallel internal investigation is needed, which must be objective and non-manipulative.

I am convinced that it is very important among our athletes who are not needed in the use of banned substances. Because personal prestige and reputation are celebrated for a victory won by dishonest means. So I advise everyone to calm their emotions and join in finding out the truth. “
