Russia fulfills all commitments on climate change, Putin said
Russia is fulfilling all its obligations under the UN Convention on Amendment and the Paris Agreement. On this statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the G20 summit, reported on the Kremlin website.
According to the head of state, the country is consistently implementing a policy to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions, as well as taking steps to improve the energy efficiency of the economy, modernize the electric power industry, and reduce associated gas emissions from oil production.
Putin admits that Russia, like other countries, is experiencing the negative consequences of global warming. “We are faced with desertification, soil erosion, we are especially worried about the melting of permafrost, which accounts for a significant amount of our territory,” the President of Russia explained.
