“It’s a situation unacceptable “, launches Marc Péré, mayor of the Union, referring to the end of the free from the car park of the Union clinic in Saint-Jean. For almost a year, the elected official as well as twenty-five other mayors of the North-East of Toulouse, have not stopped mobilize to pay protester against the paid parking from the health facility car park. This time, the collective calls to demonstrate saturday 20 november.
A petition with more than 17,000 signatures
With this new action, which is part of what the protesters call “phase three”, the group of elected officials hopes that the leaders of the clinic will reconsider their decision. “A group of angry people is powerful,” says Marc Péré.
The chosen one is already at the origin of a petition, launched in mid-May, which collected more than 17,000 signatures. Since mid-January, the collective has also met on several occasions with the management of Ramsay group, owner of the Saint-Jeannais site. “But they did not give up just crumbs,” said Marc Péré.
Half an hour free, special packages… insufficient measures?
The Ramsay group, owner of the Union clinic, recalls that measures have already been taken such as “the free half hour, the free for people with disabilities or a special package for people with chronic pathologies“. Insufficient measures for Marc Péré.
“It is not normal that people who come back regularly for consultation, or who just want to see their sick loved one, have to plan an extra parking budget. Preventing a sick person from seeing their loved ones is inhuman, it is necessary that the parking becomes free again! “
The problem with suction cups?
As a reminder, the Ramsay group had made the choice to pay parking, notably raising the problem of suction cups cars. A rationale that the group needs. On the other hand, the explanation still does not convince on the side of the opponents. “They take example from others downtown establishments while the problem is different with a real problem with suction cups, which is not the case at the Union. It’s an absolutely marginal situation here, ”says Marc Péré.
Whereas in D‘clinics in Toulouse, the switch to paid parking was rather candy, the controversy surrounding that of the Union seems set to last.
