Monaco sweeps Paris in Betclic Elite
Less than forty-eight hours after the return of the success obtained against CSKA Moscow (97-80), Monaco concluded Sunday its infernal month of October – 13 games since September 30 – with a fourth victory in seven days. At home against Paris, the Betclic Elite co-leaders have completely outclassed the red lantern (100-75) and passed the hundred points for the first time this season.
In this first clash between the two clubs, the promoted existed a quarter-time, the first (22-23) before multiplying the ball losses -13 at the break, 19 after thirty minutes- and exploding.
Rudy Demahis and Armel Traoré shine
In this context, against an opponent physically overwhelmed and limited by a rotation of seven players – absence of Amara Sy and Gauthier Denis -, the “Roca Team” played its game, reaching the twenty point gap just after the mid-point. time (56-36). Playmaker Paris Lee (13 points) and winger Alpha Diallo (15 points) were particularly prominent. Mike James (6 points, 6 assists in 15 minutes), used only for the second time in the French Championship, then pressed on the accelerator to solicit his interiors, Jerry Boutsiele and Brock Motum. The thirty point gap was reached five minutes from the end (95-63).
Zvezdan Mitrovic had chosen to leave Danilo Andjusic and Donta Hall to rest in addition to the injured Léo Westermann and Will Thomas and the rookie Dwayne Bacon, not yet qualified. The two young Rudy Demahis (12 points) and Armel Traoré (7) suddenly had the opportunity to frolic and shine against a very tender promoted. Paris again conceded a lot of points (36-51 at the break) and experienced a painful apprenticeship with only one success, in Cholet, for five losses, before receiving the other ogre of the elite, Asvel, on Saturday November 6. Juhann Begarin (22 points), Ismael Kamagaté (14) and Kyle O’Quinn (15) fed the Parisian brand but the chasm between the two teams appeared, logically, abysmal.
