LIMA, October 31. / TASS /. Russia and Brazil continue to discuss the issue of the possible purchase by the Latin American country of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems (ZRPK). Deputy Director of the Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Anatoly Punchuk announced this to TASS at the international arms exhibition SITDEF 2021.

As the deputy head of the FSMTC noted, earlier Brazil had shown interest in purchasing the Pantsir-C1 air defense missile system. “Brazil has been actively working on the issue of acquiring the modern Russian Pantsir-C1.
Negotiations on the acquisition of Russian air defense missile systems by Brazil have been under way since 2013. In May 2016, Alexander Fomin, who was then head of the FSMTC, announced that the Russian Federation was ready to supply Pantsir complexes to Brazil, but the contract had not yet been signed due to internal problems in this country.
The Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems are capable of hitting air, ground and sea targets with missile ammunition at different distances at an altitude of up to 15 km. The effective firing range of artillery reaches 4 km. The rate of fire of a 30 mm artillery anti-aircraft machine gun is up to 5 thousand rounds per minute.
