Moldova begins vaccination with the third dose of anti-COVID-19, for those who did the booster 6 months ago. The National Immunization Steering Committee yesterday recommended to the Ministry of Health to start vaccination with the booster dose as soon as possible, especially since there are first-line doctors who did the booster more than half a year ago.
“If Pfizer received the first two Pfizer vaccines, Pfizer can be given at 6 months, if it was AstraZeneca, Pfizer can be given, so will the other vaccines. If it was Sputnik-V, the booster dose will be at just six months away from Pfizer, “said Ninel Revenco, the national immunization campaign coordinator.
Priority in the administration of the booster dose will be given to people with compromised immunity and front-line medical staff. From next week, the immunization of children from 12 years old will start, with the parents’ permission. Over 211 thousand doses of Pfizer are available in the country, and next week we will receive another transport from the 700 thousand lot purchased by the Government.
“-But are there enough doses to cover the needs? -There are doses and more doses will be received,” said Ninel Revenco.
To date, more than 300,000 doses of Pfizer have been administered. This month, the European Medicines Agency gave the green light for the third dose of Pfizer, after the manufacturer showed that half a year of booster decreases the amount of antibodies against no coronavirus infection.
