Health – Munich – teachers’ associations are behind tightening the mask requirement – Bavaria
Munich (dpa / lby) – Teachers’ associations are behind the reintroduction of the mask requirement, announced by Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), even in classes after the autumn break.
The President of the Bavarian Teachers’ Association, Simone Fleischmann, told the German Press Agency in Munich: “Of course, the BLLV understands that further health protection measures must be taken due to the significantly increased incidence.” If Söder has now cleared this decision on the Thursday before the holidays, “then certainly because he knows that the school family can no longer stand it when innovations in the area of health measures are implemented again at short notice from Friday to Monday,” added Fleischmann.
The Realschullehrerverband, Jürgen Böhm, said: “With the current high and daily increasing incidence figures, which one still has to keep an eye on, it is an educationally painful but sensible measure to improve the mask requirement in class as well.” But he demanded: “Such far-reaching changes should be communicated quickly and clearly.” You can’t leave schools hanging in the air, he warned.
In view of the exploding corona numbers, Söder announced on Thursday that schoolchildren and schoolchildren will probably have to wear masks again in class after the autumn break – i.e. from November 8th. However, this is not to be finally decided until a special session of the cabinet next Wednesday.
The Bavarian Philologists Association also sees this as “an unattractive but necessary measure to ensure the presence of the company” https://www.sueddeutsche.de/bayern/ for teaching and pedagogy, “said chairman Michael Schwägerl. “But in view of the number of infections – especially among adolescents – the measure is probably the lesser of two evils to maintain the presence.” The timely announcement of the tightening before the holidays enables a smooth implementation.
