Czech tennis players long for another triumph in Prague. They want to continue the winning era from the Fed Cup
Czech tennis players want to add another triumph in the team competition. They have won the Fed Cup six times since 2011 and were happy to follow up on these victories in the final of the newly created Billie Jean King Cup. They hope to take advantage of the home environment and the fans will drive them away. “I experienced it in 2018 and it was an unforgettable experience. It was unbelievable how much energy the audience gave. You will not experience this in normal tournaments, “recalls Kateřina Siniaková. More in our video.
In the past, the Czech team was drawn by Petra Kvitová, Lucie Šafářová, Karolína Plíšková or Barbora Strýcová. None of them is in the current selection of Captain Petr Pála. Barbora Krejčíková will be number one. “I was there when Katka (Siniaková) played a significant point in 2018. This was my first time on the team and it was a huge experience. Now I hope we can do what we did in 2018, “the world four hopes.
The experienced Lucie Hradecká is returning to her, who most remembers how in the final of the Fed Cup 2011 in Moscow she won the team point in a doubles alongside Květa Peschkeová. “I have it in my head. Květa was in the same situation then as I am now, the experienced one who guided me. I think we did it incredibly well. These are incredible memories, “says the 36-year-old tennis player.

On the other hand, two other members of the team, Tereza Martincová and Markéta Vondroušová, will have their premiere in the team competition. “It’s a great honor for all of us to be here. I have high expectations from that. I saw on TV when the girls won the Fed Cup, and that is still the goal of all of us. We are a good team, we will put everything into it, “Vondroušová promises.
