“Breast self-examination should become part of the monthly routine for every woman” – Ziarul de Garda
In the Republic of Moldova, the Run Pink Moldova community joins, since 2016, the global effort to raise awareness about blood cancer and is involved in education and information efforts, focusing on early identification of the disease. The observation of the members of that community, including cancer survivors, is that very little is known about this disease and that there is an association “cancer = death”, “which does not correspond to reality: the survival rate according to statistical data for the USA is about 90% (rate calculated for 5 years)”.
Adriana Rotaru, the founder of the community, noticed a trend among the population in our country –
“Detecting a lump creates panic, which takes the person to an extreme – one in which the woman is psychologically paralyzed and, instead of going to a consultation, or creating habits to keep the mammary gland healthy, simply does nothing, which in turn worsens the situation and a pre-cancerous state actually becomes an advanced cancer. ”
In order to prevent breast cancer, it is recommended to lead a healthy lifestyle, and this also takes place through correct information about the risk factors that increase the appearance of cancer. So the Run Pink community has selected 9 risk factors to consider:
The advice of those who have gone through cancer is that every woman (but also a man) should develop a routine in terms of breast care, which should be as natural as brushing your teeth:
Dorina Baltag, ambassador of the Run Pink Moldova community, a survivor of Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer, was able to identify breast cysts to do the monthly breast self-examination exercise, which helped her last year to suppress her mammary glands. a less healthy condition and take prophylactic measures to avoid advancing his situation in a mother cancer. Dorina’s message to everyone:
“For every woman, breast self-examination should become part of the monthly routine: this is the fastest detection of breast disease and lasts only 5 minutes a month.”
And the Run Pink Moldova community explains, graphically, every year, how to properly examine breast self-palpation.
Larisa Dubceac, an active member of the community, a participant in the Run Pink Retreat Recovery Camp and a cancer survivor, reiterates the need for routine doctor visits as a right to prevent or detect the disease early.
“Life is given to us so we live beautifully, but for that we need not to get involved, to increase confidence in doctors, to take care of the body, to do sports, to believe and use prayer to the good God as a meditative tool, relaxation, to develop self-love and those around us. ”
Tatiana Pranju, a member of the Run Pink Moldova community, is also a spokesperson for the message that there is life in cancer and after cancer, but the most important thing is to be informed and not educate to prevent breast cancer.
“Prevention is the best protection, and the doctor’s early address can save your life. At the same time, this disease requires working with a therapist, because in addition to the fear of death, in cancer we have overcome our fears, negative thoughts, pessimism. And for a better quality of life, better mental health, we can work with a psychologist right now. And of course we go to the annual routine checks “.
October, called “Pink October”, is an awareness of blood cancer, in which many organizations and initiative groups stand together in order to educate and inform about blood cancer.
