If you arrive in Iasi, start exploring the city and it would be good to start with the Palace of Culture in Iasi. It is an emblematic building, built between 1906 and 1925, on the perimeter of the former medieval Moldavian royal court, on the site of the former royal palace. It has recently been rehabilitated, giving it its former splendor. The Palace of Culture in Iasi hosts four national museums: the Museum of the History of Moldova; Museum of Science and Technology; Art Museum and Ethnographic Museum of Moldova.
Walking on Stephen the Great and holy Boulevard, you will be able to admire and visit the Metropolitan Cathedral where the relics of Saint Parascheva are.
Going north, you can visit Suceava, the former capital of Moldova. The citadel of Suceava was unwavering in the face of the invaders, although the Polish and Ottoman armies tried to conquer it.
From Suceava you can travel to Gura Humorului, a tourist resort located in the historical region of Southern Bukovina. And from here you can reach one of the most famous monasteries in Romania – Voroneț. Nicknamed “Eastern Sistine Chapel”, this is a medieval monastic complex built in the village of Voroneț, today a component town of Gura Humorului.
The monastery is located 36 km from Suceava and only 4 km from the center of Gura Humorului. The monastery became famous also thanks to the paintings made on the outside. It was made artistically and is considered the most successful ensemble of Moldovan feudal art.
Even in severe climatic conditions, the painting has withstood, and the merits are due to the technical originality of the work. Other famous monasteries in the area of Moldova: Sucevita, Văratec and Agapia.
Going down to the south, you can visit the Neamț Fortress, located on the outskirts of Târgu Neamț. It is a medieval fortress, located at 480 meters altitude and 80 meters high above the water level of Neamț.
From here the trip takes you to Piatra Neamț, one of the largest and most important cities in Moldova. Here you can visit the Tower of Stephen the Great, a monument-symbol of the city. Don’t miss a foray into Cucuteni culture – Cucuteni Museum of Eneolithic Art.
Telegondola is one of the most sought after tourist attractions in Piatra Neamț. Since its inauguration in 2007, it has been in high demand among locals and tourists alike. Offers a panoramic view of the city.
