Salzburg cemeteries on All Saints ‘Day and All Souls’ Day open longer

All Saints ‘Day / All Souls’ Day is the feast of remembrance of the dead. Many people visit the final resting places of their loved ones and loved ones on these days. The municipal cemeteries in Salzburg are therefore open longer on Monday and Tuesday.
The municipal cemetery and the Gnigl, Maxglan, Morzg and Aigen cemeteries are open from Monday (7 a.m.) to Tuesday (7 p.m.). The Sebastian Cemetery can be visited on Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Death is part of life, it is the city’s task to give people space to deal with death. This topic is particularly present on All Saints’ Day. It is all the more important that we continue to adhere to the special opening times,” she said Deputy Mayor Barbara Unterkofler (ÖVP), responsible for the cemetery administration.

10.30 a.m .: Old Catholic service in the assembly hall
3 p.m .: Divine service from the funeral hall followed by a grave blessing
Gnigl cemetery
2 p.m .: festive service followed by a grave blessing
Maxglan Cemetery
1 p.m .: Ecumenical remembrance of the dead in the large church
1.30 p.m .: Memorial for the deceased followed by a grave blessing
Mörzg cemetery
1 p.m .: “All Saints’ Day” mass in the church
2 p.m .: Grave blessing
Aigen cemetery
2 p.m .: Remembrance of the dead and grave blessing
All Souls Day on Tuesday
Sebastian Cemetery
6 p.m .: Holy Mass in the Church of St. Sebastian followed by a procession through the Sebastian cemetery
