Over the past day, the number of deaths has increased to 1,163, the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus infection said on Friday, October 29. The daily number of deaths from covid in Russia is more than one thousand for 11 days in a row. In general, over the entire time of the pandemic in Russia, 236,220 people have already died from COVID-19.
At the same time, the daily increase in new infections in Russia decreased slightly, again falling below 40 thousand. “Over the past day in Russia, confirmed cases of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) – 39 849 in 85 regions, including 3442 (8.6%) actively detected without clinical manifestations,” the headquarters said. The day before in Russia, an absolute peak of covid infection was recorded for the entire time of the pandemic in the country – 40,096 cases.
Reducing infection rates in Moscow
A relative decrease in infectiousness is noted in Moscow – 7511 new cases (8440 the day before) and in the Moscow region – 2556 (2639 on Thursday). The increase continues in St. Petersburg – 3452 infected (3186 as of October 28). In general, the rise in infection is recorded in almost all Russian regions.
Most deaths over the past day were registered in Moscow (93), in St. Petersburg (76), 42 patients died in the Krasnodar Territory and in the Moscow Region. Epidemiologists explain the difficult situation with covid in Russia by the dominance of the more dangerous variant of the delta coronavirus and the low level of vaccination of the population.
