Prague – Lipence has announced a competition for the design of a new primary school pavilion
Architects should design the form of a new school building, which will replace the pavilion from 2000. According to Lenka Kadlecová, mayor of the Prague – Lipence district (Association for Lipence), it is unsatisfactory because, among other things, it has poor spatial dispositions and flows into it. In the new building, there should be more classrooms for pupils, larger changing rooms and a meeting room for teachers with offices for school management, in contrast to the existing pavilion. The capacity of the school kitchen and canteen should also be increased, where it should be possible to cook up to 600 meals a day.
The application for participation in the architectural competition must be submitted by the end of November. The jury will select a maximum of five participants who will be invited to submit a competition proposal. The competition proposals will be evaluated by a jury, which will include architects Tomáš Císař, Pavla Feistnerová and Jitka Hofmeisterová and Mayor of Lipence Kadlecová, in the spring of 2022. The results should be according to the expected schedule known in April. The estimated costs for the construction of the primary school pavilion are 75 million crowns without VAT.
The primary school in Lipence now consists of a building from 1868 and three pavilions added to it. The school was originally built as a small classroom with two classrooms and two apartments for teachers. Gradual additions and extensions became a school with nine years. The last time a four-storey pavilion was added was in 2019, in which, among other things, six classrooms for about 140 pupils, cabinets with a choir room, changing rooms, sanitary facilities and space for technical equipment were created. The extension increased the number of pupils to about 400, before that the capacity of the school was 220 pupils.
Lipence is a cadastral area in the south of Prague and a city district with about 3,500 inhabitants.
