Bonjour Chef innovates with the delivery of gourmet meals
In Toulouse, the Bonjour Chef platform is betting on adapting the principle of home delivery and take-out to gourmet cuisine.
“It’s a kind of gastro Uber Eats à la française”, summarizes Olivier Robinet, the creator of Bonjour Chef, a gourmet meal delivery and take-out platform. Launched this Monday, October 25, this Toulouse application aims to combine take-out, pleasure, quality and French gastronomy. “This project was born from the observation that there was no platform dedicated to French cuisine that was designed by and for our chefs. Some had their chance on those already existing, but they have no place. Delivery is not their job, ”he explains.
Uber Eats, Tricatel and French cuisine
Taking up the adage that says that you do not mix torches and towels, this commercial specializing for 20 years in catering supplies surrounded himself with ten local chefs selected for an idea that he was maturing. for almost three years. “They are the ones who pushed me to get started”, assures Olivier Robinet, who recognizes that the pandemic and the disenchantment of the chefs who risked offering delivery services have served as an accelerator. “The existing Tricatel platforms only offer the name of the fictitious industrial food company in the film The Wing or the Thigh, Editor’s note). There is American fast food, Italian, Greek or Japanese dishes, but French cuisine has no place there, ”he emphasizes. An absence in which he saw an opportunity.
Ten Toulouse chefs and six formulas
Romain Brard, from Genty-Magre, Simon Carlier from Solide, Eric Binazet from the restaurant Chez Jeannot, among others, thus lent themselves to the game and concocted menus adapted to the six thematic formulas specially designed for the platform. “There is no starred chef. We ask to make accessible and put forward a cuisine made of good traditional and simmered dishes ”, clarifies Olivier Robinet. “Lunch”, “Evening”, “Specialties”, “Mijotés”, “Meals with friends” or “Sundays with the family”, all the chefs undertake to change the section regularly to deal with the proposals as well. often as possible.
Good food at a reasonable price
With a lunchtime formula at 19 euros, the platform hopes to play in a different court than the usual fast food restaurants, without letting the prices soar. “For a few extra euros, you don’t have beer and coke, but you switch to ‘good food’. We took care to align ourselves with the average prices of restaurants, ”assures the founder of Bonjour Chef, who agreed with the cooks so as not to pass the cost of delivery onto the bill. A service that he wanted to delegate to society Urby, thus refusing to participate in the phenomenon of uberization and for the benefit of salaried work.
Electric truck deliveries
Likewise, Olivier Robinet has opted for delivery by electric truck in order to stand out. “I don’t want to use the bike. We could have done it, but I prefer the car. It’s a way of asserting that we are not in direct competition with other platforms, ”explains the entrepreneur. Another difference is that Bonjour chef refuses to enter the race for immediacy. For a take-out, customers must order at least two hours before the meal and, to be delivered, from morning to evening.
A platform for Toulouse residents
Initially, the platform will only be accessible to gourmets in the inner suburbs of the Toulouse metropolis. Before opening, if the success is to go to other municipalities. “We hope to provide a few hundred meals per month. It would already be a great success, ”according to Olivier Robinet.
