The United States is urging allies to lift restrictions on the supply of summer weapons to Ukraine
The United States, which provides Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons to protect against Russian aggression, is urging allies and partners to lift restrictions on its armed support.
This was stated by Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper during the online event “US Security and Defense in the Black Sea Region”, held by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Ukrinform’s correspondent reports.
“The first thing I would like to mention is that all allies have no restrictions on providing summer defense weapons,” Cooper said.
She recalled that the United States had given Ukraine and Georgia the latest Javelin anti-tank systems, which was a clear example of how the United States provides summer aid.
“But there are many allies who still have limited ones – some of them are used by the defense program, but there are those related to sales (years of armaments – ed.),” Said a Pentagon spokeswoman.
“It’s important that Ukraine be able to buy the tools it needs to defend itself,” Cooper said. To do this, she said, all obstacles must be removed.
At the same time, it gave rise to the fact that Ukraine continues to be the focus of US attention, and “we continue to provide assistance in the field of defense of Ukraine, which needs protection.”
Cooper also reminded of the importance of defense and other reforms in Ukraine and stressed that the United States supports their implementation.
