The recording of politicians from the cottage will also be dealt with by the European Parliament
This interrogation will cover the unique recordings that have been made in the media in recent days, as well as the reforms that have confidence in the rule of law in Slovakia. MEPs will invite representatives of the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Bar Association and the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic to be heard.
Bilčík, who proposed this interrogation, clarified that it is the fact that he conducts information from the investigation of serious crimes, but there are also serious reasons for the administration of justice in Slovakia.
“We will ask about leaks from the investigation, but also about disciplinary proceedings in the Slovak Bar Association, as lawyers behave not only inappropriately in the published proceedings of recordings, but also serious questions about their legality arise.” said the MEP. According to him, the hearing plan will respond to all other findings in this matter.
The European Parliament closely and in the long term monitors the situation regarding the rule of law and justice in Slovakia. The permanent monitoring group DRFMG was established after the murders of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová with the aim of monitoring the state of the rule of law, justice and free media in Slovakia. The monitoring mission last visited Slovakia in September this year, when MEPs met in Bratislava with representatives of the state and institutions responsible for the state of justice, the media and reforms in the country.
“Peter Pellegrini and the main actor playing Robert Fico sent us away from Slovakia in an unselected way in September. I know I would like a room, but we’re not going anywhere. In the European Parliament, we are primarily concerned with improving the legal situation, an affordable price for everyone, greater protection for journalists and freedom of the media, regardless of who is in Slovakia. ” described the situation of Bilčík.
