Pieta in Vítkov commemorated the anniversary of the founding of the state. The Gripen did not take off due to the fog
In response to his words, Senate President Miloš Vystrčil (ODS) said that “if someone does something for the sovereignty and originality of the Czech Republic, it is especially the parliamentary diplomacy of the Czech Senate” and that Babiš should be inspired by it. He stood out on Wednesday in Prague, meeting with Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu. The meeting was criticized by the Chinese embassy in Prague. China considers Taiwan to be part of it.
The traditional ceremony at Vítkov was canceled last year due to the coronavirus epidemic. The action was complicated by fog. Gripen and military helicopters could not take off because of her. Due to the worsening of the covid-19 epidemic, all participants in the ceremony today had to have respirators and public participation was not allowed, which some were displeased with. Dozens of people who wanted to see the ceremony gathered. Representatives of the press department of the Ministry of Defense told ČTK that the decision was made by the chief hygienist of the Ministry of Defense, who has powers as directors of regional hygienic stations.
The premiere of Andrej Babiš about the extraordinary significance of today’s holiday. “Ours used to create everything for an independent state. They built it with enthusiasm and built it great, because during the First Republic they were among the ten most industrialized countries in the world. We were the largest manufacturers of military equipment in the world,” he said.
According to him, the Czech Republic should not allow interference in its sovereignty and respect its independence. “We are a sovereign state, even though we are part of the European Union and NATO, we should not let foreign institutions and foreign states interfere with our sovereignty. Czech citizens need to know about the future of our country, not institutions that increasingly affect our lives,” he told reporters.
According to him, it interferes the most with the sovereignty of the EU country, its ecological plan for diversion from fossil fuels, the so-called Green Deal, he called “complete hell”. “On Monday I’m flying to Glasgow (at the UN Climate Change Conference) to listen to various nonsensical speeches about saving the planet. Yes, we are protecting nature, but we cannot save it by finally returning to the caves,” he added. .
“I think that if someone does something for the sovereignty and originality of the Czech Republic, it is mainly the parliamentary diplomacy of the Czech Senate,” commented Babiš’s words by Senate President Miloš Vystrčil (ODS). According to him, Babiš should be inspired by this. The Chamber of Deputies was represented at Vítkov today by ODS MP Jana Černochová, who is speculated to be a possible future Ministry of Defense.

The premiere will address the anniversary of Czechoslovakia
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will make a speech on the national holiday commemorating the anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia tonight. At 20:15, the public media as well as private television or servers will offer a several-minute speech. Every year, he participates in the celebration of the founding of the republic mainly with a speech by the President of the Republic, who traditionally performs in the evening in the Vladislav Hall at Prague Castle during the presentation of state decorations. However, this year’s ceremony was postponed due to the hospitalization of President Miloš Zeman.
Babiš told reporters today that he did not consult the presidency on the national holiday. “It’s a short speech, I thought it appropriate,” he said. Regarding the president’s state of health, he noted that he is in contact with Miroslav Zavoral, director of the Prague Central Military Hospital, where the president is. “I talk to him (the director of ÚVN) regularly. I expect the president to be transferred to a normal room and then I will have the opportunity to visit him,” the prime minister said after the reverential act at Prague’s Vítkov on the anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia.
He added, however, that he did not have more specific information about the president’s state of health. He reiterated that it was not necessary for the president to take any constitutional step until the November constituent session of the Chamber of Deputies and the moment when the current government will have to resign. “The president’s state of health is being addressed unnecessarily, because it is simply not his turn now, there is nothing delaying,” he said.
