Norway’s EC group for 2022 is ready
Norway was the 2nd seed in the draw, and thus had to draw one of Europe’s really big guns in the group stage.
Norway ended up in Group A, and will face England, Austria and Northern Ireland.
– We all know how big football is in England, so it’s going to be very cool to meet them. I think maybe we ended up in the best group we could, says Norway’s Maren Mjelde to TV 2 after the draw.
– I think this can be well satisfied with. I have great faith that Norway can move on from this group, says former national team player Ingrid Moe Wold.
The championship, which is being held in England, was originally supposed to be played this summer, but was moved a year ahead of time due to the corona pandemic.
– I think it was a good draw, if you look at the ranking and such. Then there are only good teams in the tournament. I wanted to get rid of Denmark, other than that I had no preferences, says national team manager Martin Sjögren to TV 2.
The host nation England opens the championship against Austria on July 6 at Old Trafford, while the final is played at Wembley on July 31.
For the third championship in a row, Norway ended up in the same group as the host nation.
– It was probably no bomb that we got the host nation. It is starting to become a recurrence, laughs Mjelde to TV 2, who is happy to not have to meet England at Old Trafford in the opening match.
– Now we have met the host nation in the two previous championships, so why not do it again. You can not do much with it, says Martin Sjögren with a smile.
Norway will face Northern Ireland in the opening match on July 7, England on July 11 and Austria on July 15. The two best in the group advance to the quarterfinals and meet teams from the group with Germany, Denmark, Spain and Finland.
Norway will play all its matches on the English south coast.
The Norway profile has a new hobby
– It will be art no matter what. There are so many good layers now that there are pros and cons with everyone, but it would have been cool with England. I have to say it, black Guro Reiten before the draw on TV 2’s questions about potential dream opponents in leading rounds.
These meet in the group game:
Group A: England, Norway, Austria and Northern Ireland.
Group B: Germany, Denmark, Spain and Finland.

The case is being updated!
