Hungarian science is also celebrated at the University of Debrecen

Debrecen – “Science: a direction for a livable future” is the motto of this year’s Hungarian Science Festival, and the University of Debrecen will join its programs this year as well,

The National Assembly adopted the XCIII. declared November 3 as the Feast of Hungarian Science. The day in 1825 he offered the estates of István Széchenyi a year’s income to establish a Hungarian Society of Scientists, thus enabling the establishment of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA).

On 18 November 2021, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is organizing the prestigious event of Hungarian scientific life, the national and cross-border program series of the “Hungarian Science Festival”.

This year’s motto of the event: “Science: a direction for a livable future”, its main message is that only with the knowledge of scientific facts and contexts can we undertake to understand the processes taking place in our environment and to assess and determine their expected consequences; also draws attention to the role of comprehensible and experiential knowledge transfer in curbing false news and to motivate young generations to create original ideas.

– “Universities are primarily dedicated to the management, development, nurturing and advertising of the nation’s intellectual life, and we are convinced that the requirements of the full science of the University of Debrecen will live up to the hopes that the nation’s public opinion has for its operation.” The Council of the Royal Hungarian University of Budapest welcomed the then starting Royal Hungarian University of Debrecen in 1914 – quoting the ideas of more than 100 years László Csernoch.

The Deputy Rector of Science of the University of Debrecen emphasized that the centuries-old ideas had not lost their relevance, as the task of higher education institutions had not changed:

to transfer and popularize science, keeping in mind its continuous development and renewal, as the Hungarian Science Festival has been serving for this purpose for almost two decades.

The series of events will traditionally end with the doctoral and honorary doctoral ceremony on November 27 in the Hall of the Main Building. The program is broadcast live by the University’s Multimedia and E-learning Technical Center.
