Concern about the Salzburg grassland declaration – salzburg.ORF.at
ENVIRONMENT
Salzburg’s grassland protectors fear for the grassland declaration. According to grassland protectors, small areas should flow back into protected grassland areas in order to rededicate high-quality large areas for residential construction in return.
The Salzburg Grassland Declaration has existed for 35 years and is intended to prevent further valuable green areas from being built in the state capital. The resolution at that time is also considered to be the birth of the Salzburg citizens’ list.
Official report leaves doubts
Now Wilfried Rogler, grassland protector from the very beginning, fears that the protected area will be nibbled on. The occasion is an official report from the office of ÖVP Vice Mayor Barbara Unterkofler, says Rogler: “In Salzburg they obviously want to add up the small areas that have been included in the grassland declaration since 2008. We fear that. Then somewhere a wonderfully large area WILL BE taken out, which of course is not steadfast. Especially in the south of the city of Salzburg there are very nice large areas where I know that the owners have ambitions here to rededicate their grassland to building land. “
Unterkofler speaks of a misunderstanding
It must be a misunderstanding, it is said of this criticism from the office of the responsible ÖVP Vice Mayor Barbara Unterkofler. The official report as an update of the grassland declaration is necessary for the creation of the new spatial development concept. That means three hectares, however, that these new, scarce, large compensation areas will automatically be rededicated as building land elsewhere.
