Their transfer was organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in Spain, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported.
A total of 57 people have arrived in Lithuania from Venezuela.
The arriving Lithuanians and their family members were greeted in Vilnius by the representatives of the Refugee Center, who take care of the accommodation and quarantine of the newcomers.
Later relocated persons will be granted benefits for settlement and basic needs, assistance in the education of children and learning the Lithuanian language, assistance in job search and other assistance.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the raging political and economic crisis in Venezuela is encouraging people to flee the country.
At present, the Lithuanian Embassy in Madrid is a partnership with about 100 more people who have the status of a person to be transferred and are looking to move to Lithuania.
It is stated that another transfer flight is planned for this year.
The Lithuanian community in Venezuela unites about 400 people of Lithuanian origin. It is estimated that about 1,000 Lithuanian citizens and persons of Lithuanian origin live in Venezuela.
The possibility for the crisis-stricken Venezuelan Lithuanians to move to Lithuania was approved in September 2019.
The resettlement program is implemented in accordance with the law adopted in 2019, which allows to reimburse relocation costs and other state support for Lithuanians living in crisis-stricken countries.
