Alix Weil voluntarily restores the religious heritage of the village
Between the stages of stripping, laying the anti-rust coating and painting, it took nearly ten hours for Saint-Victorienne, Alix Weil, invested with passion in the maintenance of the religious heritage of the village, to come to the end the repair of the pretty Calvary near the water tower.
This metallic mission cross, erected on a base in cut stones on the place called La Grange in 1893, is one of the most elaborate in the village with its floral decorations laden with symbolism.
Unfortunately, rust had plagued the whole for years, but thanks to Alix Weil’s self-sacrifice and efforts, the monument can once again shine with a thousand lights.
“This cross is the last of the village which required to be restored in depth, the others were it a few years by different teams. “
But this ordeal is not his only contribution to the safeguard of ecclesiastical property. Indeed, she has also completely renovated the paintings of the statues of Saint Joan of Arc, the Child Jesus of Prague and Our Lady of La Salette located in the church.
This Thursday, October 21, the refurbished statues were placed on wrought iron plinths specially made by Bernard Weil, a retired craftsman.

In the old church (which was the point of origin of the village), other statues and various ornaments, deposited during the restorations launched by Louis Michel in the 90s, patiently waits for Alix Weil to come and gratify them with his care. benevolent.
Long and meticulous work carried out on a voluntary basis which can only make the charming village church even more attractive.
