3,000 trees in total in the district
These 400 trees announced Wednesday are in addition to those planned, or already established, according to the initial plans of the district. 200 additional trees are planned in particular behind the UGC building, between the cinema and the ring road, and 300 others behind the Jardins de la Ligne, this green space located opposite the Halle de la Machine.
In total, according to the chief magistrate, “3,000 trees have been planted in the new district of Montaudran ”. He sees it as an important asset to “fight against heat islands” in the Pink City.
For Moudenc, it will be a neighborhood with a “strong vegetal footprint”
Believing that Montaudran will be endowed tomorrow with a “Strong plant footprint”, Jean-Luc Moudenc sees in it the contours of a “quality district, with housing and diversity, but also a strong cultural center”, carried by the Halle de la Machine, the piste des Géants, the UGC, or again the Cobalt space, with a new theater.
Without forgetting, of course, the shops and numerous restaurants which have already taken up residence on the new square, at the foot of the Minotaur on one side, and the cinema on the other. Spread over 56 hectares, this district should accommodate some 2,500 inhabitants.
23,000 of the 100,000 trees announced already planted
As for his famous “100,000 trees plan”, intended to green the town of Toulouse between 2020 and 2030, Jean-Luc Moudenc ensures that he is “ahead of schedule”. According to its count, the Municipality has planted “at present, 23,000 trees over two years ”.
