Toulouse: a commissioner appointed patron of the judiciary
A 37-year-old woman has just been appointed head of the reorganized departmental security. It has ambitious goals.
The departmental security of Haute-Garonne has a new boss. The 37-year-old veteran commissioner took office on September 1. Deputy to the departmental director of public security (DDSP) in charge of the investigation, she “pilot and coordinate”, in close links with the prosecution, “the broad spectrum” of the judiciary “from the flagrante delicto to departmental security “.
The one who knows her constituency well, since she has been stationed in Toulouse for two years, displays ambitious goals, so that it has been designed according to the means. “Our goal is to succeed in increasing the capacity to elucidate the cases and to give answers to the victims through work axes divers,” describes the commissioner. This involves improving the file circuit in order to be more efficient on a daily basis ”.
The departmental security has 85 staff including 45 investigators. It is made up of several units. The property damage unit manages everything related to theft with violence, burglaries, vehicle trafficking or even trailer theft. Serious violence, rape, violence with a weapon, kidnappings, homicides or attempted homicides falling under the personal attacks unit.
Vast priority in Toulouse, drug trafficking and pimping are issues handled by the unit for the fight against narcotics and the underground economy. The departmental family protection unit is interested in attacks on minors and serious domestic violence.
“Have a global vision”
In support, the investigation assistance unit intervenes. In addition, four police officers belong to a video cell dedicated to identifying the perpetrators of multiple crimes. For its part, the departmental technical and scientific police service makes the findings.
“My function is transversal and particularly interesting because it requires having a global vision of the judicial field,” analyzes the commissioner. I have an advisory and guidance role. We have to find a balance. Our goal is to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice ”.
