Shiny gold at Brno’s Špilberk: a large bracelet will show people for the first time
The largest item in the series is a set of spiral bracelets from Olomouc. They are made entirely of pure gold, weigh over 630 grams and consist of eight spiral parts of twisted double wires. They were made during the Middle to Late Bronze Age.
According to the representatives of the Brno City Museum, the bracelets have not yet been found in Moravia. “Bracelets were found by colleagues from the Archaeological Center in Olomouc this year and have never been exhibited before. I am glad that their premiere will be at Špilberk Castle, “said the director of the Brno Museum, Zbyněk Šolc.
Another jewel at the exhibition is a gold bracelet from Blučina in the Brno region made of almost pure gold weighing 227 grams. It was found in 1953 and was lent to Špilberk by the Moravian Museum.
The golden neckerchief from Ždánický les weighing thirty-two grams is another artifact at the exhibition. He was found last year in the Ždánice forest. An object made of pure gold is a very unusual find. It belonged to a member of the Germanic elite, probably from the royal family.
The mentioned golden objects can be seen from Thursday to Sunday.
