Prague has the first metro line completely covered by a mobile signal. The entire network will be ready by the end of the year
Only the Jiřího z Poděbrad station will remain temporarily without a better signal due to the reconstruction.
The excuse “I have to finish, I’m entering the tunnel” will be useless in the Prague metro by the end of this year. Line A is the first line of the Prague metro, which is completely covered by the LTE and 5G mobile signals.
The coverage of the entire section from the Motol Hospital to the Hostivař Depot took place today. It is a joint project of DPP and a consortium of operators (O2 Czech Republic, T-Mobile Czech Republic, Vodafone Czech Republic) and Cetin. “One is the Jiřího z Poděbrad station itself, to which we will introduce the network after the completion of the modernization and construction of the elevators that we will carry out here,” added the head of the DPP communication department Daniel Šabík. The last section was Skalka – Depot Hostivař.
There are 5 stations left to fully cover the Prague metro with the LTE signal: Střížkov, Prosek and Letňany on line C, Rajská zahrada and Černý most on line B. It should be completely completed by the end of the year.
The coverage of the metro with the LTE and 5G mobile signals began in 2018. The contract with the consortium is for 20 years. For the first ten years, the operators will pay DPP 120 million crowns. The new line D will be covered, similarly to the new part of line A, from construction.
