Norway postpones its total reopening due to delta variation
Norway has limited the complete removal of the health restrictions until the end of July, the beginning of August, in response to a potential wave related to the delta variation. However, the epidemic in the country is under control.
To protect against the fourth wave of the Govt-19 epidemic due to delta variation, Norway postponed this Monday “until the end of July, the beginning of August” to remove almost all health restrictions.
“Growth is still positive,” said Prime Minister Erna Solberg at a press conference, “but we choose to wait (…) to see how the delta deviation affects the situation.
“The risk of reopening too quickly is that the delta variant can create a fourth wave in the unvaccinated population, in people who have only received a single dose, and in vulnerable groups with weakened immune systems,” he explained.
Slow down the growth of delta variation
Norway, the Govt-19 epidemic is largely under control, with the third phase of the program starting June 18 removing fire restrictions, and in theory a semi-standardization could be immediate.
But according to Erna Solberg, the government has chosen to give more time to tackle the spread of a special infectious delta variant that can dominate the country “within weeks”.
“It is important to curb this growth,” he said. In Norway, 63.6% of adults have received at least the first dose of the vaccine.
47.32 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants
With a population of 5.4 million, Scandinavia only uses messenger RNA vaccines (Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna) in its vaccination program.
He left the Astrogenega vaccine and reserved the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only for volunteers (in some cases) due to the rare but serious side effects that these vaccines can cause.
I am following European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC), Norway has the lowest death rate of 47.32 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 15 days.
