Movida out of control, in Naples more policemen on duty at the weekend
The Municipal Council of Naples approved two resolutions to try to combat the out-of-control nightlife of the Neapolitan capital: more patrol in the street, especially at the weekend and in the places most frequented by young people, from Vomero to Chiaia passing through the Spanish Quarters and the Center historical.

There will be more policemen on duty in the places of the Neapolitan nightlife and especially at the weekend. This was announced by the Municipal Council of Naples, which approved two deliberations strongly desired by the new mayor Gaetano Manfredi and by the Councilor for the Municipal Police and Legality Antonio De Jesu. Therefore, the requests of the residents who have long complained about a situation of great difficulty in the Historic Center, where the nightlife has long been out of control, have been accepted.
Fights and daily violence in the places of nightlife
The situation in the historic center and in the places of the Neapolitan nightlife from Vomero to Chiaia passing through the Spanish Quarters, has been reported as unsustainable by residents for some time. Fighting, violence, impassable roads due to overcrowding that make it impossible for cars or ambulances to circulate, as has already happened. And it is not lacking an increasingly widespread crime: a few nights ago a quarrel about an electronic cigarette had ended with a beating, in another case even stab wounds had flown.
The two deliberations approved by the Executive
The major controls, however, will not be immediate: with the first resolution, it was in fact approved:
Weather, in Campania a weekend of heavy rain: the meteorologist Mazzarella speaks
an increase in the contingent of municipal policemen on weekends in the late evening and at night, with the use of an additional three self-assembled patrols and 9 employees to be employed in the key points of the city’s nightlife
but this will happen for three months of next year, following the participation in a regional tender for the financing of this project. In the other resolution, however, a second project was approved which aims to purchase computer equipment for the Local Police, “necessary to support and implement controls for further violations of the Highway Code”.
