dernières phases de végétalisation de la place Pey-Berland
The works in front of the accesses to the car park have started these days and will see the planting of a Ginkgo Biloba before the end of winter.
After season 1 of phase 1, which saw the planting of a row of melias alongside the café terraces, season 2 of the revegetation of Place Pey-Berland has been underway since October 18, at the foot of the apse of the cathedral. A perimeter restricting accessibility has been set up, while, as required by law, prior archaeological excavations must take place. If, when it was repaired in 2004, the square had already been the subject of such research, it was again imposed by the need to dig deeper into the soil for planting. And especially that of a ginkgo biloba, a remarkable tree, the positioning of which was chosen higher than what we are used to planting, ”recalls Didier Jeanjean, for his shade from next summer.
Phase 2 of the program, relating to the installation of street furniture, is being prepared by the services of the Metropolis and should “be presented in early 2022”, announces the deputy mayor in charge of nature in the city. With a double constraint: that to the aesthetics expected by the Bâtiments de France is added the security of the place imposed by the Vigipirate plan.
