City council wants action plan for commercial support
The Zurich municipal council believes that the economy WILL have to chew on the consequences of the corona crisis for a long time to come. On Wednesday he therefore referred an SVP postulate that a plan of measures to support local businesses is required.
The action plan is said to have been drawn up in cooperation with representatives of the trade, including those directly affected, as well as the municipal trade associations. “The industry knows best what it needs itself,” said Roger Bartholdi (SVP). In addition, the local economy is heterogeneous, in addition to the hospitality industry, many others are also suffering from the consequences of the Corona crisis.
The SVP agrees to a text change of the GLP, which explicitly calls for a support plan.
Any action plan would have to be submitted to the municipal council again before it comes into force, as stated in the postulate text. The postulate was referred with 90 to 24 votes to the city council to examine the nun whether he found such a plan sensible.
The SP was already convinced that the city largely fulfilled the postulate. “In terms of content, it is not a great success,” said Renate Fischer. Funds have already been set in next year’s budget to support the local economy. The party sees it as a given that it is one of the tasks of the city council to support the industry in the next few years. Nevertheless, the Social Democrats also voted in favor of transferring the postulate.
