In Lithuania – potato season. The end of the potato digger and the start of a hearty meal with zeppelins. Therefore, the national travel agency “Travel in Lithuania”, which always surprises with portable travel routes, has created a map of Zeppelin. Travelers are invited not only to travel, but also to discover the unexpected tastes of the big bucks in different regions of the country.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, a Lithuanian eats about 250 g of potatoes a day, so almost 100 kg a year. It is true that according to Snieguolė Valiaugaitė, the communication project manager of “Keliauk Lietuva”, according to this indicator, Lithuanians do not fall into the top ten potatoes in the world. It turns out that without potatoes, Chinese, Indians, games, Russians cannot live more than Lithuanians.
“Although we are not the most potato-eating nation in the world, and zeppelins are not the official national dish of Lithuania, as the elections of the National Dish held last year show, Lithuanians cannot imagine the country’s cuisine without big dumplings. In addition, a rare tourist visitor does not indulge in gastronomic experiences – as far as they have to face, zeppelin tasting is on the list of almost every traveler, ”S. Valaliaitė shares.
“Travel in Lithuania” has been consistently developing the direction of gastronomic tourism for years. And to deliver low zeppelins to the local market, the agency decided to take into account the seasonality, the increased flow of local tourism and the current “Third nights” a project that invites Lithuanians to travel and taste longer – if they book two or more accommodation establishments in a row, get the third one for free.
