VIDEO. Pornographic fresco at Toulouse University Hospital: management requests its immediate withdrawal, the fresco still hanging

Sugar Mizzy October 26, 2021

the essential
A pornographic fresco, considered “shocking” and “degrading”, is installed in the canteen room of medical interns at the Toulouse University Hospital, in Purpan. Following a report, the management requests its immediate withdrawal. This Tuesday, October 26, we saw that it was still in place.

A naked, lifeless woman, lying on her legs apart, another on all fours, bare breasts, tied by a leash, naked men in the middle of sex, other women hand-whipped. About fifteen reserved and identifiable people, members of the CHU management and management bodies, doctors or staff members, are represented on a giant fresco 3 m long, displayed in the refectory for interns at the CHU Purpan. These people are “mocked”, as is “tradition” in the spirit of the rifles, the name given to medical students.

Administrative procedure for “serious and imminent danger”

Three days after the administrative alert for “serious and imminent danger” triggered by the South union of the Toulouse University Hospital, Purpan site, this giant fresco, deemed “degrading” by members of the medical boarding school, by South and by the association Dare feminism 31, is still hanging in the canteen room of the building reserved for interns, in Purpan. The fresco was commissioned by the Association of Interns of the CHU, on the pretext of a tradition of “mockery” of hierarchical superiors, in force in international medicine throughout France.

The fresco is still in place in the refectory of the boarding school in Purpan, this Tuesday, October 26

This Tuesday October 26 at 8 am, a meeting of “administrative investigation” took place between the union representatives and the management of the CHU, about the fresco. At the exit, the unions said management was calling for the “immediate” removal of the mural.

“The dean of the faculty of medicine, the president of the establishment medical committee are in favor of its withdrawal, these are strong signs that things must change. This tradition is no longer acceptable within the CHU. Sexual violence and sexist are a reality within the CHU, management says they are doing everything they can to fight against this violence. Removing this fresco is obvious, “said Victor Alava, nurse at the CHU and secretary of the Sud Santé Social union.

“The CHU was informed by representatives of the staff of the presence at the medical boarding school of the Purpan site of a table of a sexual nature, described as presenting characters in degrading positions”, wrote the management of the CHU in a press release on October 25 in the evening.

An old sexist fresco, removed in 2018, is again hung in the boarding school

“The CHU and the faculties of health remind their strictest to the form of attack on the dignity of persons. For several years they have been leading a policy of prevention and fight against harassment and discrimination. In this spirit, a letter was addressed to the President of the Boarding School association, asking him to immediately remove this canvas. “

This Tuesday, October 26 in the morning, we were able to see that the fresco was still hanging in the building of the medical boarding school. This building is located on the Purpan site in Toulouse, Place Baylac, 100 m from the shopping area and the Carrefour hypermarket. We were able to enter it, and met doctors in the refectory. They did not wish to comment on the fresco, which they say “do not look”.

We went to the 2nd floor of the building at their indication, and were asked to leave immediately, on the grounds that we had entered a “private” building. We could not get any reaction or explanation from the part of the office of the President of the boarding school. We have seen that a previous pornographic fresco, removed in 2018 from the municipalities of the boarding school, had been hung up, in a common space.

Reached by “La Dépêche” Tuesday, October 26, the president of the association of interns at CHU Purpan indicated that he did not wish to make any comments.
