On October 26, 1955, the National Council passed the Federal Constitutional Law on the permanent neutrality of Austria. Since then, the national holiday has started annually in the country. Russia’s head of state Vladimir Putin has congratulated Austria’s Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Federal Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg on the day the Federal Constitutional Law on perpetual neutrality was passed. The corresponding text was made public by the Russian Embassy in Austria via Facebook.
“Take my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday – the day the Federal Constitutional Law on Perpetual Neutrality was passed,” reads the unofficial translation of the letter.
Putin pointed out that Russian-German relations are based on good traditions of friendship and mutual respect.
“I am convinced that the further development of constructive bilateral cooperation in various areas would serve the interests of the peoples of our countries and of the entire European continent.”
The Russian President wished the Austrian colleagues good health and success and the Austrians well-being and prosperity.
