In the Ambulanzzentrum Nord, 200 patients are currently being treated, from next year it can be up to 800, i.e. four times as many. Several long Covid cases have also been dealt with here. The capacities are now being expanded for this. The new treatment places will be available next April.

The ambulance center facility is currently growing in the existing building. But the entire move to a larger house is also possible.

Every tenth person infected with CoV suffers from a long covid

Around every tenth person has long-term health problems after a Covid infection. Converted to the province of Salzburg, that equates to more than 6,000 patients.

Many doctors do not yet know that the North Ambulance Center in the city of Salzburg is also a point of contact for these patients. According to general practitioner Christine Trischak, the youngest patient in the outpatient center was not even 30 years old. “She is a kindergarten teacher, can no longer work and has two children at home. She has to think about whether to empty the dishwasher or go for a walk, because neither is possible. Then she is so exhausted that she has to lie down, ”says the doctor.

Long Covid treatment expanded

Currently, cardiovascular patients are primarily treated at the North Ambulance Center. You don’t do the rehabilitation as an inpatient, but come to the treatments on an outpatient basis over a period of several months, says Andreas Kriechhammer, Managing Director of the Ambulanzzentrum Nord: “In an outpatient setting, the patient stays in his or her social environment. That means that he can continue to look after children, parents or carers and remain active in his job. ”The treatment in the outpatient center takes two to three hours, then the patient drives home again.

The rehabilitation concept is individually tailored to each patient, adds Andreas Kriechhammer. The sick are treated comprehensively, for example by means of exercise therapy, training therapy, medical examinations or psychological care.

Outpatient treatment cheaper than inpatient rehab

The offer for long Covid cases in the Ambulanzzentrum Nord is not only aimed at people from the state capital and Flachgau, but also from Tennengau and Pongau. The social insurance companies want to create more and more places for outpatient offers where people can come every day and receive treatment. Outpatient treatment costs less than inpatient rehab.
