Mercadona de Vila do Conde is the first in Portugal to have an integrated Co-innovation Center
AN mercenary opened a supermarket in Vila do Conde, which is the chain’s first store in Portugal to have an integrated Co-innovation Center. In a statement, a retailer informs that this center has an exclusive work area, where product specialists can be closer to customers to learn about their consumption habits and preferences.
The new store generated 65 new jobs with permanent contracts and has a sales area of 1,900 square meters, which includes the Charcuterie, Fish, Pastry and Bakery, Perfumery, Butcher, Fruits and Vegetables and Ready-to-Eat sections.
This space in Vila do Conde was designed according to Mercadona’s Efficient Store Model and has 166 parking spaces and two transport spaces when charging electric vehicles, connected to the MOBI.E network.
The Co-Innovation Center is about 100 square meters and is dedicated to blind testing and product development. The space consists of a kitchen and a tasting room.
The 6.25 Store concept is also already implemented in this new supermarket. Under the company’s Social Responsibility Policy, this new supermarket will daily donate essential goods to the Association for the Protection of the Elderly António Ferreira Vila Cova.
The company expects to open, still during this year, three new supermarkets according to its expansion plan, the next opening scheduled for November 11th in Felgueiras (Porto).
