Gdc: YEPP final press release
The Youth Conference of the European People’s Party (YEPP), which ended last October 24 in San Marino, had the Future of Europe as its central theme. The debate among the participants saw the presentation of some motions by the young afferent (EPP), concerning the Popular actions that the European Union will have to face in the coming years and, those approved subsequently to be implemented by the same EPP, thus leading to the attention of the highest European institutions also the opinion of young people. Among the various motions presented and approved, we recall: a “New European Energy Strategy” promoted by the New of the People Party (NNGG – Spain), an issue that is central to the new challenges in the energy field that are already occurring today showing more and more necessary and urgent; on the other hand, from Forza Italia Giovani comes the motion concerning “Reforestation, an opportunity for adaptation to combat climate change”, it is a debate that increasingly sees young people as spokespersons within international organizations; We also remember the strategy started “Get the Show on the Road, Europe”, whose focus is on the actions that Europe will have to undertake in the near future, in particular with regard to a communication strategy that focuses on social media, with the aim to approach and involve young European citizens on current and future issues present in Europe. Finally, we Young Christian Democrats have promoted the White Paper, a document presented by the host country of the Conference, which summarizes the main themes on which the event is about. Precisely, the San Marino delegation wanted to focus on topics such as: “work and technological innovation”, as the latter can give rise to job opportunities that are very necessary for today’s world. Subsequently, the San Marino delegation expressed itself in the context of “Environment and health” regarding the importance of fighting change and the problems connected to it, as the future of Europe is based on the future of the environment. planet and the repercussions this will have on people’s health. The White Paper expresses the importance of Democracy, a theme to which we GDCs feel close and which will also be explored in the new round of meetings with the School of Political Training. The latter refers, in particular, to the importance of ensuring the involvement of young people in European politics. It is therefore an aspect also linked to the spread of disinformation, fake news and strategies to be able to combat these phenomena. Despite the importance of these topics, the key issue on which the GDC White Paper placed the greatest focus was entitled “European partnership through association agreements”. The Republic of San Marino, together with the Principality of Monaco and Andorra, is negotiating association agreements with the European Union, with the aim of being able to enter the Single European Market and therefore to be able to eliminate the obstacles that citizens and businesses San Marino people encounter goods when importing and exporting and services. This Agreement is important, not only from the economic – social point of view, but also from the cultural – social point of view and concerns the obtaining of a position of our Republic at an international level in the near future. We GDC have expressed our opinion so that this process can speed up and be concluded as soon as possible. The future of Europe is at a turning point, the actions we take today will mark future generations. The contribution of the YEPP is essential so that the challenges that will arise are addressed in the best possible way, by putting appropriate solutions focused on the future of European citizens. We GDCs are proud to have had the honor of hosting such a prestigious international event, which gave our Republic the opportunity to confront itself with the wider European context, ensuring that the voice of a small state is also heard. by the largest international institutions such as the European Union.
