fuel prices have increased enormously in one year
In a study published this Monday, October 25, the automotive comparator Caroom.fr and the agency specializing in Flash data reveal that Toulouse is the 16th city in France in which diesel prices have increased for a year.
Faced with the growing increase in fuel prices throughout France, the automotive comparator Caroom.fr and the agency specializing in data Blinking have joined forces to draw up a precise inventory of this increase in the 50 largest cities in the country. This study reveals that Toulouse is the 16th in which the price of diesel has soared the most since last October.
Indeed, the average price of diesel (recorded at 34 different points of sale in the city, editor’s note) rose from 1.227 euros per liter in October 2020 to 1.574 euros in October 2021. That is, an increase of 28%, representing 34, 7 cents more per liter. “An inhabitant of Toulouse pays 13.88 euros more for a full 40 liters of diesel than in October 2020”, summarize the authors of the study.
Overall increase throughout France
It is in Grenoble that the price of diesel is highest, at an average of 1,634 euros per liter, followed by Toulon (1,597 euros) and Rouen (1,595 euros). In the Occitanie region, Montpellier ranks just behind Toulouse, in 17th place, at 1,572 euros per liter. Next comes Perpignan (35th), where a liter of diesel costs 1.55 euros, then Nîmes (43rd), where it is 1,536 euros.
In the region, the average increase in the price of diesel is 28.26% in one year. As a reminder, this study appears in a context of crisis with the return of the Yellow Vest protests. In an attempt to cope with the overall increase in prices, the government has just announced the establishment of an “inflation check” of 100 euros for beneficiaries with an income of less than 2,000 euros per month.
