Fire brigade exercises in special fire containers
timeline
In the Salzburg State Fire Brigade School, after interruptions due to the coronavirus pandemic, training has started again. A major focus of the class is training in respiratory protection. In addition to the fire training house, there is now special training in an additional system.
The combination of the four black special containers offers additional training opportunities, i.e. state fire brigade commander Günter Trinker. Various scenarios such as room or cellar fires can be practiced in the containers.
Fire brigade members practice the emergency
Günter Trinker explains an exercise scenario based on a room fire. They are only rarely triggered by a gas fire, mostly solid fuels are involved. “In the case of a so-called real fire, the teams are prepared in the heat recovery system for what they can actually expect in an emergency in the event of a room fire,” says Günter Trinker. According to the state fire brigade commander, it is important that the fire brigade members do not first have such an experience in action, but know what to expect IF THEY have been pulled into the property to a room fire.
The fire containers were developed by the specialists from the state fire brigade school together with the Salzburg manufacturer. The costs amount to around 130,000 euros. The training in the warmth acclimatization facility is integrated in the curriculum in the basic respiratory protection course or advanced respiratory protection training course. Up to 400 volunteer firefighters are trained in these special courses each year.
Fire training house as a training ground
There has been a fire training house in the state fire brigade school for nine years. There the various scenarios are caused by gas firing.
