CST will be mandatory across the country in catering and fitness businesses
The Covid Safe Ticket will be extended to catering establishments and fitness centers on November 1. The mouth mask requirement in public indoor spaces such as shops – abolished in Brussels – will never be from October 29. This was announced at the Consultation Committee.
In Brussels, a corona pass is already being requested in catering and fitness businesses, and in Wallonia this would be the case from 1 November. Until now, this was not the case in Flanders, but the Covid Safe Ticket is now also received there. The CST also remains necessary at events. The federal government obliges control from 400 visitors outside and 200 inside. In Brussels, those rules are stricter: 50 visitors inside or 200 outside.
Several Flemish mayors have been asking for the introduction of the CST for some time. The Vilvoorde mayor Hans Bonte announced on Tuesday the introduction in fitness stores, because it took place the week regarding the grounds that fled the Brussels pass.
Federal of Health Frank Vandenbroeder, the mouth mask can be worn so much. From Friday 29 October it will be mandatory again in public indoor areas. That was canceled on 1 October in Flanders, but not in Brussels. So nothing changes in the capital in terms of mouth masks.
Vandenbroucke argues in favor of combining measures. “No commandments offer absolute safety: do not vaccinate, do not ventilate and neither does the mouth mask: it is the combination of these factors that will help us.”
keep testing
Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (and VLD) also emphasizes the need for ventilating indoor spaces. Anyone who feels sick should stay at home and be able to easily be tested from next week with a new tool based on a questionnaire. The booster vaccinations for people over 65 will also be rolled out further, after which other target groups will also be discussed.
Teleworking is strongly recommended for all “whenever possible”, according to De Croo. “Working from home means there are fewer things in the workplace and that’s a good thing.” Also, the number of people on the transport should be reduced.
The pandemic law will come into effect from today, says De Croo. The government will use it for the next three months.
