Vaccination queues have begun in Prague, but the numbers are lower than in the spring
“In the capital, we are seeing an increase in interest in vaccinations, especially in the last week. There are, of course, more reasons. In my opinion, I am mainly concerned about new government measures in the form of termination of payments for antigenic and PCR tests in combination with the possibility of receiving a booster dose 6 months after vaccination, “said Martin Ježek, regional vaccination coordinator and director of the municipal health department.
Significantly higher interest in vaccines is also confirmed by the Bulovka University Hospital, which operates a vaccination center on its own premises and the second vestibule of the Main Railway Station. Around noon on Monday, a line of people waiting stretched out to the outdoors. “We extended the operating hours and added one nurse and two administrative staff to the service team. However, the onslaught is now mainly and it also applies to the center in the hospital, where, unlike the station, we vaccinate on the basis of reservations, “said Bulovka spokeswoman Eva Libigerová. While in summer the waiting time after booking was a maximum of one day, today it is around five days.
Also the smaller church Hospital of St. Kříž Žižkov in Kubelíkova Street has already reacted to the new situation. “Due to the great interest in the vaccination center, we are again increasing the capacity of the staff. In case of even greater interest, we are operatively able to increase the operating hours. On the contrary, due to capacity reasons, we are forced to limit against other diseases, such as influenza. Unfortunately, we are temporarily referring these applicants to another workplace, “said spokesman Radek Pešout.
The greatest interest is in a single-dose vaccine
Among the current trends is the growing demand for Janssen single dose vaccine, but the greatest interest in Comirnaty remains. The infection is now mandatory among school children, who usually function only as “carriers” and the course of the disease is weak or completely asymptomatic. At tomorrow’s meeting with state authorities and insurance companies, the management of Prague will want to secure the financing of comprehensive tests in schools and at the same time partial changes to the so-called regime measures that regulate their operation. “We would like a change to the so-called jaundice quarantine. This means that children who are not tested positively will continue to teach in the quarantine, only they are spatially and temporally separated from the rest of the team, “said Vít Šimral (Pirates), councilor for education.
According to him, at VZP, Prague will ask for an increase in the number of paid tests due to school testing. Among the requirements for the state is “the release of tests from state reserves and the inclusion of Prague in comprehensive testing.”
According to IHIS data, approximately 737,000 people with permanent residence in Prague have completed the second dose of the vaccine. This represents less than 70 percent of the adult population of the capital, which in this respect ranks third after Vysočina and the leading Central Bohemian Region. The highest proportion of vaccinees is in the age group of 75 to 79 years. In total, almost two and a quarter million doses have been vaccinated in the territory of Prague, including 50,000 single-dose vaccines and 25,000 “booster” vaccines (third dose). Residents of other regions, led by Central Bohemia, also come for them in large numbers. Among those vaccinated in Prague are over 50,000 health workers, almost 40,000 chronically ill, 20,000 teachers and over 10,000 social workers.
