Toulouse: the students of the Chapou residence, compensated by the Crous, have not had hot water for a month
For nearly a month, the students of the Chapou residence in Toulouse, learned from the Crous Occitanie, have complained that they no longer have hot water.
While the temperatures are no longer really summer, the students of the Chapou residence, acquired by the Regional Center for university and school works (Crous Toulouse Occitanie), complain that they have not “had hot water for nearly a month. “.
In any case, not enough for the more than 200 accommodation units in the university residence located at 1, rue Saunière in Toulouse. Adrian Guillot, a foreign language student at Jean Jaurès University, and tenant of accommodation on the 5th floor of one of the two buildings in the residence, no longer knows who to turn to for the problem to be taken into account.
Compensation?
“With other students, we went several times to ask for explanations at the entrance to the building where there is a Crous office, but each time, we are told that they do not know and that they cannot. do nothing. This has been going on for over three weeks ”. The problem is not the lack of hot water, but the flow, assured the students.
“It’s in terms of water pressure,” says Adrian. As many of us must get up at the same time in the morning, I only have hot water for a minute and then it becomes cold again. I even have a neighbor who heats water in a saucepan to rinse her hair in her bathroom. Apparently it’s the same in the other building. “
According to the student, “the problems would have started at the same time as the renovation works of the Chapou swimming pool”, which plays the residence. But nothing is less certain for the time being. Obsolete? The Chapou residence had already made a name for itself in 2018.
At the time, at least a dozen rooms had been infested with bedbugs. As compensation, the students wish to obtain a reduction in the rent which amounts to an average of 250 euros per month. Contacted Friday, October 22 by the Dépêche du Midi, the Crous did not respond.
