“Opa! », A Nazi past at Le Pavé
With “Opa! ”(Papi in German), the Théâtre du Pavé wanted to show the gaze of the granddaughter of a Nazi on her family past, to shed light on the future. The Vasistdas company – which works on the theme of transgenerational memory – presents the premiere of the show, performed by Ilka Vierkant, actress and puppeteer.
By chance, in Toulouse, she crosses paths with one of the victims of her “opa”, Jean Vaislic, who has returned from the most terrible of camps, and he too, for other reasons, entrenched in painful silence. Her woman’s gaze, lucid and compassionate, sheds light on a new path, divided between her feeling of guilt and her responsibility for transmission.
