Proceedings were conducted in Debrecen against a killer stabbing his host in the neck

Eger – The Eger Tribunal sentenced the man who stabbed his host last year to 18 years in prison on Monday, he told MTI.

According to the indictment, the young man with a criminal record was taken off the train in Budapest at Füzesabony because he was traveling without a ticket. At the train station, he met the later victim, with whom he drank first at nearby restaurants and then at his apartment.

After the heavily intoxicated host fell asleep, the accused stabbed him in the neck with a knife and then took various valuables with him to sell them later.

The host is dead. According to the expert, immediate medical intervention could not have saved him either.

The perpetrator of the crime traveled to Budapest, where he sold and exchanged the acquired objects, and threw some of them.

According to the court, the verdict imposed in the case for the crime of murder for profit and to the detriment of a defenseless person is not final, as the Heves County Prosecutor’s Office appealed for aggravation and the accused and his counsel for mitigation. The second instance procedure is conducted by the Debrecen Arbitration Board.

The court assessed as a mitigating circumstance the defendant’s detailed confession and the fact that he had not yet reached the age of twenty at the time the crime was committed. The aggravating circumstance took into account the perpetrator’s criminal history, legal punishment, and the fact that the accused committed the murder during his probation.

Due to the latter, the court also ordered the execution of this 1-year-to-8-month imprisonment, they said.
